Description

The last production staged by Patrice Chéreau, this « Elektra » will remain as the main and most striking lyrical event of these last years in Aix-en-Provence. This production is leaded by three amazing singers: the German soprano Evelyn Herlitzius gave a tremendous, never-to-be-forgotten account of the title role, Waltraud Meier portrays a human and chilling Clytemnestra and Adrianne Pieczonka is a fantastic Chrysothemis. Everyone’s loneliness and intimate struggles are Patrice Chéreau’s favorites theatrical themes. With Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting the Orchestre de Paris, this production of Elektra becomes an unforgettable experience.

The production will tour to Teatro alla Scala (Milano), the Metropolitan Opera (New York), Finnish National Opera (Helsinki), Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Berlin)

Reviews

“Adrianne Pieczonka’s bright timbre [is an] ideal counterbalance to her sister’s warmth.”

Opera Magazine, August 2014

“Adrianne Pieczonka’s creamy tones as Chrysothemis add a touch of warmth to a family murderously dysfunctional.”

London Times, 30 May 2014

“The lyrical beauty of Adrianne Pieczonka’s Chrysothemis is a welcome contrast, and her portrayal does a great job of capturing this character’s conflicted nature, her yearning for release battling with her weakness.”

Musicweb International, 13 June 2014

“With her timbre rich in harmonic colours, Adrianne Pieczonka gives us a surprisingly mature, almost maternal Chrysothemis.”

Forum Opéra, 19 May 2014

“Adrianne Pieczonka presents us a wonderful Chrysothemis, who, in this production, is a character with an unexpected humanity.”

ConcertoNet, 8 July 2014
